AGM Costruzioni

The problem

AGM Costruzioni is a construction company working on facades and wall coverings, renovations, waterproofing, sports facilities and more. It needed a website to present its services, projects, certifications, clients and partners, to collect contact requests, and to be found on search engines. The design was done by a collaborator; I worked on the backend and the production release.

What I built

• A multilingual (Italian and English) single page app with a page for each service, project pages with photo and video galleries, and sections for certifications, clients and partners.

• A contact form with service selection, handled by a Netlify Function that sends email through Maileroo. It accepts POST only, validates the email, escapes HTML and reads recipients and sender from environment variables, so no secrets live in the repo.

• An image pipeline with Node and sharp that converts and compresses project photos to WebP, and a script that turns folders of photos into project entries with Italian and English translations.

Interesting decisions

• Custom prerender instead of SSR: rather than migrating to Next.js, a build-time script reads routes and metadata and generates a static page for every URL, with its own title, description, canonical and Open Graph tags, plus the sitemap. The site stays a SPA, with a Netlify fallback for routes that are not prerendered.

• Content automation: adding a project is mostly a matter of dropping in photos and running a script, which cuts manual work.

• Performance: WebP images, preloaded hero images, and videos with posters and metadata preload.

• Internationalisation through a React context and translation dictionaries.
